Sara Keith Capps, LPC-MHSP (temp)
First, I’d like to say hello and welcome to my little corner of this webpage. I appreciate you being here and reading this. My name is Sara Keith Capps, but you can call me Sara Keith. I am excited to be a new addition to Be Found Counseling in Brentwood, Tennessee. I actually grew up here, and I’m so happy to be back after completing school at Harding University and serving college students in campus ministry at Arkansas State University. I studied Psychology and Spanish for my Bachelor’s degree at Harding University, and I later completed my Masters and Education Specialist degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling there as well.
Before beginning school for counseling, I actually intended to be a veterinarian. I was raised in a close family that valued service above many other things, so I was drawn toward a variety of service professions that tapped into my natural skills as well as core values. I have also always been enthralled by the beauty of nature, especially when hiking, scuba diving, gardening, skiing, and being around animals. I saw becoming a veterinarian as a connection point between some of my favorite things. However, as I eagerly walked into my first veterinarian internship site, my bright eyes were quickly sealed shut (literally, they puffed up as my face and throat began to swell). I learned, to my horror, that I was allergic to most animal fur.
Transitions can be challenging. At times, they seem to wreck life scripts of what’s “supposed” to happen, but what if there could still be so much more to your life than you ever dreamed? After facing this redirection of my own, I leaned deeper into my passion of helping people, especially women and teenagers facing some type of change or transition. If you’ve had a major life change, you may resonate with feeling anxious and overwhelmed, waking up not knowing where to start. Maybe you’re a student or recently moved and you’ve been feeling isolated, anxious, low energy, unmotivated, and missing the support and community you long for. Maybe you’ve experienced something traumatic and have felt shaken, confused, frozen, or angry. Perhaps you’re alone for the first time in a long time, whether it’s a divorce, breakup, or loss of a loved one, and you’re trying to figure out who you are.
I’m so thankful I continued down this life-path that lead me here, where I am honored to have you considering inviting me into this part of your life. I love this career where I get to support and celebrate clients in exploring and uncovering next steps to walking forward toward their goals for their lives. I strive to provide a warm, therapeutic environment where clients can feel safe to explore roots and support systems of their current beliefs, emotions, behaviors, and body sensations while practicing skills that propel them toward a life they want.
